IN-PERSON Basic Race Management Seminar

The seminar consists of One In-Person session
Saturday, May 30, 2026. 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
There is approximately 90-120 minutes of REQUIRED pre-course work prior to the In-Person session. Attendance is required to complete and pass the course.
Please be sure to download the Racing Rules App at: https://www.ussailing.org/competition/rules-officiating/the-racing-rules-of-sailing-2025-2028/ You will also have the option to purchase the print edition of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 during the registration process.
About 10 days before your course begins, you will receive an email from Canvas Free for Teachers, inviting you to participate in the course through Canvas, US Sailing’s online learning platform. Please click the "Get Started" link to complete your profile in Canvas and access the required course materials.
The lead instructor will email you with additional course information.
US Sailing course registration fee: $40. A discounted US Sailing special introductory membership is available for first-timers during the registration process.

IN-PERSON ADVANCED RACE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR (ARMS)
Hosted by the PYC-Satori Foundation
at Pensacola Yacht Club
1897 Cypress Street, Pensacola, FL.
Instructors are Taran Teague and John Farris.
This ARMS fulfills the seminar requirement for certification and recertification and includes the opportunity to take the Advanced Race Officer Test following the final session. You will have three weeks to complete it.
Schedule and Prep
The seminar will consist of a short Introductory Zoom session followed by two in-person sessions. Attendance in all 3 sessions is required to complete and pass the course.
Session 1: Thursday, July 30, 2026 - Introductory Zoom Session, 7:00pm-8:00 pm
Session 2: Saturday, August 8, 2026, 9:00am - 5:00 pm
Session 3: Sunday, August 9, 2026, 9:00am - 5:00 pm
There is pre-course work to complete between the Intro Zoom Session and Session 1. It is estimated to require 8 to 10 hours to complete. The course is designed to build on lessons learned in these pre-course modules, but they may be accessed, reviewed, or worked on up until the class closing date. Timely efforts will produce best results.
Two weeks prior to the in-person session you will receive an email from Canvas Free for Teachers (instructure.com), US Sailing’s online learning platform, inviting you to participate in the course. Please click the "Get Started" link to complete your profile and login to access the REQUIRED pre-course materials in Canvas.
The organizer and/or lead instructor will email you the Zoom link and additional course information before Session 1 begins.
