Course Description: This 2 day, 16-hour hands-on, on-the-water course is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a powerboat and improve their boat handling skills. No previous experience is required. The US Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) have approved this course and an increasing number of states have recognized it as meeting their requirements for a State Boating Education Certificate.
*Please note that when you register, pick one day on the list and know that the course runs 2 consecutive days.
Age Limit: 12+
These national and state approvals call for the course to include a total of six to eight hours of classroom sessions covering required education topics. The following 8 hours will be spent aboard the training boat covering hands-on skills focused on close-quarters and open water boat handling. Students will receive a Start Powerboating Right! book and upon course completion, get their US Sailing/US Powerboating Log Book with a certified course completion sticker.
*US Sailing Membership is not required to participate in a Safe Powerboat Handling course.

Course Description: This 8 hour on-the-water course is for anyone who needs hands-on experience to safely operate a powerboat and improve their boat-handling skills. Students will be expected to study the course materials at home to challenge and pass a written exam cover equipment requirements, rules of the road, aids to navigation, preparation, environmental regulations, safety and emergencies. Material covered at home will be reviewed and practiced during the 8 hour training day. Students will receive a Start Powerboating Right! book and upon course completion, get their US Sailing/US Powerboating Log Book with a certified course completion sticker.
Age Limit: 12+
This course focuses on hands-on application of all skills, consequently, it is NOT approved by the U.S. Coast Guard or the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) as meeting requirements for a state boating safety education certificate.

Course Description: This 2 day, 16-hour hands-on, on-the-water course is for students aged 12-17 who wants to learn how to safely operate a powerboat and improve their boat handling skills. Work with Capt. Sarah Lawrence, Mom of 2 and lifelong boating instructor and captain. No previous experience is required. The US Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) have approved this course and an increasing number of states have recognized it as meeting their requirements for a State Boating Education Certificate.
*Please note that when you register, pick one day on the list and know that the course runs 2 consecutive days.
Age Limit: 12+
These national and state approvals call for the course to include a total of six to eight hours of classroom sessions covering required education topics. The following 8 hours will be spent aboard the training boat covering hands-on skills focused on close-quarters and open water boat handling. Students will receive a Start Powerboating Right! book and upon course completion, get their US Sailing/US Powerboating Log Book with a certified course completion sticker.
*US Sailing Membership is not required to participate in a Safe Powerboat Handling course.

Course Description: *Annapolis Location* This 8 hour on-the-water course is for anyone who needs hands-on experience to safely operate a powerboat and improve their boat-handling skills. Students will be expected to study the course materials at home to challenge and pass a written exam cover equipment requirements, rules of the road, aids to navigation, preparation, environmental regulations, safety and emergencies. Material covered at home will be reviewed and practiced during the 8 hour training day. Students will receive a Start Powerboating Right! book and upon course completion, get their US Sailing/US Powerboating Log Book with a certified course completion sticker.
Age Limit: 12+
This course focuses on hands-on application of all skills, consequently, it is NOT approved by the U.S. Coast Guard or the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) as meeting requirements for a state boating safety education certificate.

Course Description: *Annapolis Location* This 8 hour on-the-water course is for anyone who needs hands-on experience to safely operate a powerboat and improve their boat-handling skills. Students will be expected to study the course materials at home to challenge and pass a written exam cover equipment requirements, rules of the road, aids to navigation, preparation, environmental regulations, safety and emergencies. Material covered at home will be reviewed and practiced during the 8 hour training day. Students will receive a Start Powerboating Right! book and upon course completion, get their US Sailing/US Powerboating Log Book with a certified course completion sticker.
Age Limit: 12+
This course focuses on hands-on application of all skills, consequently, it is NOT approved by the U.S. Coast Guard or the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) as meeting requirements for a state boating safety education certificate.

We use Grady White 18 for our single engine course and a Safeboat 26 for our Twin engine course. There is a 2 person minimum to run a class.
This 16-hour hands-on, on-the-water course is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a small motorboat and improve their boat handling skills. No previous experience is required! The US Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) have approved this course and an increasing number of states have recognized it as meeting their requirements for a State Boating Education Certificate.
These national and state approvals call for the course to include a total of six to eight hours of classroom sessions covering required education topics.
